Thursday, April 23 at noon Pacific in AB 320 for a talk from Nishat Akhtar, Chief Creative Officer at INSTRUMENT!
Nishat Akhtar is a designer, artist, and creative leader. As Chief Creative Officer at Instrument, she helps guide the studio’s creative vision, shaping both the work of today and how it continues to evolve for the future. Her clients and collaborators have included Nike, Google, Amazon, Oura, and Adobe, alongside a personal art and illustration practice she continues to nurture. Through talks and workshops, Nishat shares a belief that creativity belongs to everyone, and that play is where it all begins.

Join us for a lecture with Bráulio Amado, a designer celebrated for his vibrant, expressive work that blends drawing, typography, and cultural reference into images that feel alive and immediate. Tickets HERE!
The lecture will be followed by a conversation with Bráulio, Nishat Akhtar (Instrument), and Bijan Berahimi (FISK).
Bráulio Amado is a graphic designer and illustrator from Portugal, currently based in New York City. Known for his vibrant, kinetic work, his drawings have appeared in The New York Times, Businessweek, WIRED, and more, and he has collaborated with artists including Frank Ocean, André 3000, Róisín Murphy, and Robyn.

Nemo is a design agency specializing in brand strategy, concept development, product campaigns, creative design, content, and brand extensions. For nearly 25 years, they’ve worked primarily within the outdoor, active, and lifestyle spaces.
Plink Graphics is the studio of freelance designers Buck Chapman and Finn Donnelly.
We’ve been invited to tour their new space and get a behind-the-scenes look at where their collaborative and independent projects come to life.

Are you interested in branding, typography, or design leadership? Join us for Design Club's Lunch and Learn while and hang out and learn from Andres Silva Bello!
This workshop explores the evolving role of motion within contemporary brand design. As technology reshapes how we experience visual communication, motion has become an essential tool for giving brands a sense of life, rhythm, and personality. Through a mix of discussion, real world examples, and hands on exploration, you will learn how to translate static design principles into dynamic brand behaviors!
Andres Silva Bello is an Ecuadorian graphic designer with a decade in the design and tech scene. He majored in Typography Design at the University of Buenos Aires and loves bringing a strong visual and typographic focus to every project. For the past six years, he’s been leading visual projects for R/GA USA (mostly on the Nike team), where he works as Design Director. Before that, he spent four years shaping creative work in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Breanne Trammell (she/they) is an artist, educator, amateur archivist, nonmusician, and snack enthusiast. Rooted in printmaking but expansive in form, her work maps constellations of publics and ephemeral artifacts that explore site, memory, and the political and personal histories embedded within them. Breanne’s practice often manifests through playful interventions, publishing projects, and participatory events.
This event is in collaboration with Art Practice & Printmaking Studio at PSU.

Dot Dodd is a Portland-area graphic designer with over a decade of in-house experience at local institutions such as Powell’s Books, Nutcase Helmets, and Scout Books. Among other things, she’s created bike helmets, t-shirts, signage systems, weekly promotional materials, and a very large mural. As a graphic artist for International Paper, she currently specializes in flexographic printing but has experience with letterpress, mimeograph, offset, Risograph, and screenprinting. When not posting vintage coffee mugs on Twitter, Dot can be found buying paper ephemera at estate sales, sorting her vintage sign-painting books, or organizing and volunteering with TypeCon, the annual typography conference from The Society of Typographic Aficionados.

Emily Klaebe (she/her) is a typeface and brand designer creating systems founded in thorough research and strategic thinking. Since 2020, Emily has been designing identity systems at Order. In 2021, her role grew to include leading design at Order Type Foundry. OTF, an extension of the brand design office, designs and releases practical typefaces for long term applications. In 2022, Emily completed San Francisco’s Type West postgraduate certificate program at the Letterform Archive in designing comprehensive type families. Her typefaces and brand systems show the result of a process defined by focused intention and detail.
